Another one off of the Warp Records roster. Polymer is their 10th album released in June this year (2019), and I like what they had to say for their reasoning for naming the album Polymer.
“The problems and benefits of Polymers felt like good themes for this album, their repetitious strength, endurance, and troubling persistence, the natural versus the synthetic, silk and silicone, the significant effect they have on our lives,”1. from their press release.
To start, I'd have to say that this is a very dynamic album. It's ever-changing swinging through tingling melodies that is to me rather dreamy, then changing over to deep chord progressions with a drum n bass pattern like on track number 4 Ops. There are a lot of really amazing complexities in this album, and considering I'm only on the B side of this double LP at the moment.
I especially liked "Recall" it has all of the lovely noise elements that I really enjoy.
There occurs to be a reoccurring Latin theme going on in this album and what makes this interesting is on the last track of the album called "Praze" takes you on a Latin/English and dare I say classical-inspired ride that really adds to the overall complexity of this record and the sheer talent these lads have.
Overall I really enjoyed this album, and I hope that you do too!
